This Autumnal Mini Sampler Quilt is a celebration of the mellow fruitfulness of the season, using evocative, richly coloured Liberty Fabrics.
Suitable for an advancing beginner sewer, it is constructed using a mixture of techniques which will help to enhance your sewing skills. English Paper Piecing (EPP) is a traditional hand sewing quilting method which is simple and quite addictive! The raw edge appliqué technique may be completed either by hand, or with a sewing machine, the choice is up to you. It does require a bit of concentration, but is easily mastered and there is no end to the items you can make with this method of appliqué! Patchworking is the ‘classic’ method of quilting and this will be a great introduction to the technique. Decorative stitching adds extra interest and details to the design of the blocks.
As pictured, for the EPP, patchwork and appliqué shapes on the front we have used a selection of smaller pieces of Liberty Tana Lawn® in a selection of rainbow colours.
Your finished mini quilt can become a block in a larger quilt, a cushion or a wall hanging.

YOU WILL NEED :
Iron, pins, thread to match each fabric, heat erasable fabric pen, embroidery thread, hand sewing needle, fabric starch, sewing machine (it is handy to be able to drop the feed dog), ruler, cutting mat, scissors or rotary cutter
Optional: free motion quilting foot, washable adhesive glue stick.
Wadding: approx 19” x 19” (48.5cm x 48.5cm)
Iron-on transfer adhesive (such as Bondaweb): minimum approx. 11” x 27 1⁄2” (28cm x 70cm)
